| | | PG (pinot grigio) is a five year old female, sulfur-crested cockatoo. She is very animated and affectionate. We have had her for about six months and rescued her from a pet store where she was turned in by a family that was unable to keep her. We were told that she had some female abandonment issues because the woman turned her in. Because of this, she really likes men, and is not so fond of women, however, with time, the girls in the pet store could pick her up and gained her trust. She is very loving to my husband, but just allows me to pet her, but does not want me to pick her up and will snip at me. If she is already out of her cage, I can pick her up at this time. I can also hand feed or pet her at any time.
She is very quiet most of the time, and the only time that she screaches is when she wants food (people food) or is frightened. She dances and whistles when she wants attention. She clearly says "Pretty Bird". On occasion says "good-night" and gets very happy when her cage is covered at night. She sometimes speaks in sentences when leaving the room or whispers. It appears she is a little shy.
The only reason we are seeking a new home is because of our dogs and the fact that my husband is very busy and since I cannot get her out of the cage, she is unable to come out as much as she should. She would do best in a home with a couple or male, but could do well with females with time and patience. Also, would do well in a dog-free or small dog home. She tolerates our small dog, but we do not leave them unattended if she is out of the cage.
She has a good home. Please inquire if you can give her a great home with lots of attention. She has been around other birds in the past.
