Bowflex makes some pretty amazing claims about the Bowflex TreadClimber. While not all their claims may be believable, some of them are realistic (Click here to read individual Bowflex TreadClimber Reviews). The design and function of the Bowflex TreadClimber make it possible for this machine to do the following:
Increase your heart rate rapidly and maintain that heart rate throughout the remainder of the workout. Increase the rate at which calories are burned and weight is lost. Simultaneously works more muscle groups. Minimizes the impact on joints. How Does the Bowflex TreadClimber Work?
The Bowflex TreadClimber is sort of a cross between a treadmill and an elliptical trainer. It is innovatively designed with a “dual motion treadle system.” With each step that you take, the treadles move up and down in a motion that mimics climbing. This machine is created to work your body more efficiently than walking or running on a treadmill. It is more effective because of the way it targets large core muscle groups. As a result, you can burn more calories while working at a lower rate of speed. (Note: You can use the incline feature on a treadmill to burn more calories at a lower rate of speed, too. However, the Bowflex TreadClimber may still be more efficient.) Low-Impact Workout
Running on a treadmill is like putting 2.5 times your body weight of impact upon your feet, legs, and joints. (The impact is even higher when you run on concrete or asphalt!) That’s a lot of force, which can eventually lead to problems in the knees, ankles, and hips. The Bowflex TreadClimber, however, eliminates most of that impact. That’s because you take steps as if walking instead of running. (With the Bowflex TreadClimber, your feet do leave the walking surface and return to the surface with each step you take. That creates some impact, although it’s minimal. In contrast, your feet do not leave the pedals when using an elliptical trainer. As a result, the elliptical trainer is a bit more low-impact than the TreadClimber.) Is the TreadClimber a Good Buy?
Due to the design of the Bowflex TreadClimber, with the dual belts and rollers constantly moving up and down, this machine has had some service issues in the past. After being on the market for a few years, however, it appears that many of those issues have been corrected. Is the TreadClimber a good buy? If you get the desired results in a shorter period of time than you would with a quality treadmill, the cost may be justified. However, you should also consider elliptical trainers, with the low impact, dual action motion. In addition, NordicTrack offers their Incline Trainers that are basically a treadmill that inclines to 40%. Although, after trying these other products you may conclude that the TreadClimber is best suited towards achieving your fitness goals. | | | | | | | | | | | |
