Looking for a great ELCA church in the Seattle area? I like to recommend Faith Lutheran Church off of Lake town Way and 82nd. I've been an affiliate there my whole life and my grandparents helped found the church, so I am admittedly a little biased, but we have great coffee, potlucks and heaps of fun Martin Luther trappings on display - so you know we are serious!
Our growing congregation has a lot to offer, with fun-loving and committed members who take time to participate in our adult Sunday school hour at 9:15 Sunday mornings. If you have children, they are very much welcome to sit and listen to our Sunday services. There is also a free childcare for infants and toddlers during worship. While children are encouraged to sit in sanctuary during the service, you can comfortably leave with your child anytime to go to the 'cry room' when you need to tend him or her. The cry room is situated at the back of the church so you can still watch the service through the window and hear it over the loudspeakers.
Our Youth priest would probably also need me to note that we have a great confirmation program for middle college scholars and a superb youth group for high schoolers. There are even boozer theology nights for young adults (university age and up).
Our services are at 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings. Children and adults can also join in the Sunday faculty in between hours. Come ready to worship and sing! We have a traditional service with a wonderful choir, an orchestra made of volunteers from the congregation, and a handbell choir. Our choir director, Nan Beth Walton is a very talented and dedicated person who arranges the many pieces you will take pleasure to hear in the service.
If you're a life-long Lutheran, an ELCA transplant from another area, or merely looking for a family-friendly Lutheran church in North Seattle, we invite you to come and visit us. Our guests are always welcomed tenderly by whomever they happen to be sitting next to in church, and the coffee hour after each service usually bosts flavorsome treats ( brownies and fruit ) as well as a chance to meet more people and find out what the congregation is like.
We look forward to having you join us at Faith Lutheran Church. All are always welcome!
