Most people, from around North America, have discovered that difference. I witness it every day I leave my house and try to find a parking spot at the grocery store.
For more then 30 years, the weather channel girl has sung its praises of bright sunshine and everything else that goes along with that.
If you haven't figured out the big secret yet, I'll fill in the blanks for you - its South Florida in the Sunshine State. People flock to this peninsula mainly because of the weather - but the everyday lifestyle that consists of many outdoor activities is what keeps people down here long after their week long vacation ends. Speaking with different people regarding when they moved down here, its amazing how often I hear that they came down for a vacation and haven't moved back. With thousands of people flocking to the Sunshine state every day, Its hard to imagine that any other place in North America can make that claim.
I've been living in south Florida for a bit longer then a decade and it has been an exciting and rewarding experiences every step of the way. So, everyone knows about the nearly perfect weather that engulfs the state and they may have heard about the long stretches of beaches that are located here - but the nightlife is just as impressive. New York and Los Angeles more then likely has their pulse on nightlife entertainment, but not close behind them is a place where A-listers come down to visit.
From time to time, the weather does cause us some trouble, but that is few and far between. The weather does come with the territory, and although most of the time it is nice, hurricanes do sweep in from time to time and it does make for a scary situation. The risk of having to deal with hurricanes is equivalent to dealing with snowstorms in the northeast, the mudslides in the west and the threat of tornadoes in the middle of the country - its all part of dealing with mother natures wrath. That is the ying to the yang when you live in paradise.
If you plan on escaping to South Florida, you may also be intrigued regarding the different influences. South Florida invites different food, drinks and flavors to the area which adds to the excitement of being a part of the areas flair. The night clubs that sit along Collins Avenue in Miami or Las Olas boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale have some unique sounds that, in a lot of cases, haven't broke through to the rest of the country - which makes South Florida the birth place of a lot of popular music. The island influences come through in the areas food and drink as both allow your taste buds to travel to where these flavors originate.
Adventure on both land and water awaits you from the time you wake up till the time last call is announced. Watching the sun go to bed every night while sailing on a sunset cruise is on of my personal favorite things to do. You like out door activities? Golf is just the tip of the outdoor activity iceberg, as there are more golf courses per square miles located here then most places in the country.
South Florida welcomes people from different walks of life. This just adds to the diversity of South Florida. No reason is needed why there is such an influx of people that come down here and, for some, choose not to leave. There is nothing quite like being able to throw on a pair of shorts, a cotton shirt and a pair of Kino flip-flops and waive good-bye to that cabin fever lifestyle that has plagued the rest of the country.
