Hi! I'm a very experienced rider (20 years and counting!) looking for a horse to lease within the NYC greater metropolitan area. Currently I ride clients' horses for a trainer in Purchase NY, but he is relocating further upstate, so I figure it's about time I find a horse of my own to lease. My dream horse for lease would be a school master style dressage horse, something at least as educated as me, so that I could continue to build my classical dressage skills. Also, the horse should be ok on the trail, and able to pop a few little jumps from time to time - nothing major. I'd also be willing to work with or train youngstock, I have plenty of professional training and riding experience, but since I'm working in a different field now I'm keeping to riding as a hobby. I ride balanced/centered seat english equitation. I was trained hunter/jumper as a kid, up to 3', and currently am working on Classical Dressage (can do extension and collection, leg yields, turns on the forehand and haunches, flying changes, etc.) I'm in my mid-twenties, 5'6" and 125 lbs so I can ride both horses and ponies, but am mostly interested in working with horses around 15.2 and taller (the bigger the better! though I'd be willing to exercise ride ponies in exchange for access to a more suitably sized horse). I'd be happy to work with very young horses in exchange for access/riding time, to get them started in a specific discipline - I've started 3 babies under saddle and really enjoy it - but this would be less of a leasing situation and more of a barter deal. Also, since I live in Brooklyn I don't have a car, so I'm looking for a horse that is at least nominally transit accessible - if I have to hire a car from a train station that's fine, but if it's going to take me 3 hours to get there I'm probably not interested! Please send me any information about your horse, images, videos, links to websites, price range, availability and all that stuff...and I'd be happy to provide personal and professional references upon request. I hope my new four legged friend is out there! | | | | | | | | | |
