According to a radio interview with Lloyd, there will be three official remixes to the song. A remix for pop radio featuring rock drums and rapper B.o.B., a remix with R. Kelly for urban radio, and a third remix featuring an unrevealed artist who people "wouldn't expect to hear." This third version was released, entitled "Lay it Down Part II - A Tribute to the Legends." It features Patti Labelle and pays tribute to Aretha Franklin and the late Teena Marie.
