Detergent carpet cleaning solution for stain removal

For carpet cleaning a solution can be made using dish detergent. Mix 1/2 a teaspoon of the detergent into 1 quart of warm water. Before using read the label on the detergent bottle. If it contains either lanolin or bleach do not use it.

Use clean white paper towels to blot up the stain on the rug and to absorb as much of the stain liquid as possible. Place the detergent solution in a spray bottle and spray on the stain,soaking well. Rub over the stained part with paper towels or use a clean white rag. With several layers of paper towels soak up the the stain and detergent liquid.

Place a number of thicknesses of paper towelling over the stain and weight them down using a heavy object such as a brick. Leave for a time to soak up the stain.
