Rinse off the stained area of the carpet with warm (not hot) clean water.
Brush the carpet pile back into the natural direction it naturally lies in.
Put a layer of a number of thicknesses of clean white paper towels over the work area. Put a heavy item such as a book or brick on top of the paper towels and leave until dry.
