Let's get straight to the point: you're here because you just brought Civilization 5, and you want to know how to play it properly. It's a good thing you were directed to this site. My name is James, and I've been a huge fan of the Civilization series since 2001.
In total, I've played Civ III, Civ IV and now Civ V for hundreds of hours, both singleplayer and multiplayer. Almost every weekend, every day off work and in much of my spare time, I would be playing a Civ game. I've read strategies online and posted in forums, too. And I'm one of the few players that could beat the computer on Diety in a 1v1 game. When it comes to the Civilization series, I'm the type of guy you want to talk to.
Like I'm sure you were, I was totally excited about the release of Civilization 5. I had it preordered and was counting down the days - even hours and minutes - until it was released on Steam. Once it was available, I still remember opening it up and playing around with it like a kid at christmas.
But, Here's Where The 'Fun' Begins...
I love playing this game, and most will agree with me when I say this is the best Civ game ever. But more importantly, I found that due to my expertise in previous Civilization games, I had a HUGE edge over other players! Whereas many others were struggling, I was crushing almost every person I played, and breezing through the single player campaign.
You see, the fundamental elements of the previous Civilization games (city building, expansion, units and combat, research, different civilizations etc.) are still entirely present in Civilization 5. There are a lot of changes, of course. But even with these numerous changes, I guarantee that an expert in Civilization 4 will be an expert in Civilization 5 almost from the moment they start playing.
Every day, I'm playing Civilization 5 and learning new things. It's my mission to become one of the top players in the world at Civilization 5, knowing every part of the game inside out. But I also want to share new strategies and methods with others... because as you'll find, it takes a tremendous amount of time to get good at a game like this without any help.
And that's why I created my Civilization 5 guide:
This guide will contain EXCLUSIVE strategies, tips, methods and all around deadly advice on Civilization 5. I'm going to go through all the new changes to Civ 5, how you can use them to your advantages, and different new strategies in the game. There is not a single important aspect of Civilization 5 that I do not plan on covering.

You may be thinking that even if I'm an expert in the previous Civilization games, there are so many new things in Civilization 5 and so many differences, that I couldn't possibly have everything there is to know about the game revealed in this guide -- at least not yet. And you would be right. I mean, this game is still really new. Even if I had played the game 18 hours a day since the minute it was released I still wouldn't have a complete strategy guide at this point!
Civilization 5 is a tremendously deep game. That's why I've set up this product as a membership site. This is a guide that's going to be continually updated, every week. What you see when you join today is just a fraction of what will be offered in future. I'll be the first to admit that even I don't know everything. But it's my aim to make this the most complete, comprehensive and useful guide for Civilization 5 that will ever be created.

No matter what level you are at, you're going to find this guide extremely helpful. It doesn't matter if you play single player or multiplayer, what civilization your choose, or what your playing style is.

One of the biggest changes in Civilization 5 is the addition of being able to purchase social policies, which is another thing we will cover.
