Chris Evans is known for his roles in such movies as Fantastic Four and The Losers… and now he’ll be known for his role as Captain America.
[A photo of Chris Evans in a Captain America scene. The trailer, which I would usually put here, is set to air during the superbowl. I'll be updating this post with the trailer when it comes out.]
As with any action flick, the stars have to maintain and build bodies that will not only impress the audience, but also make them playing the role more believable.
A scrawny Batman, Thor, Green Lantern, ect… is bad for business. And it’s no different for Captain America.
And that’s why Chris Evans Workout is so important.
As you can see above, whatever he did worked.
Chris Evans Workout and Diet Philosophy:
“The key is dedication”, says Chris. From his rhetoric, we can tell that Chris Evans is consistent with his workout and diets . Chris’s dedication and consistency with his workouts is vital for his results.
Chris Evans speaks about workouts mentioning that you don’t have to go crazy with them or even the diet. He actually despises diets and treadmills. He is quoted saying they are like “like pulling out teeth”.
Although I do think diet is important for health orientated goals and overall health, we can learn something here.
There are a lot of health conscious people who make health their life. It’s completely unnecessary. Health is a tool we use to make sure we have enough energy and vitality to enjoy and live our lives.
It shouldn’t hold you back from having fun with friends or family. And it definitely shouldn’t distract you from things you need to spend time on, whether that’s family or your passion.
I know people who achieve their dream bodies (READ: Get ripped) on 3 short, but intense, workouts a week.
You should be healthy enough to enjoy periods of unhealthiness without consequence. Going out for a night and eating foods you wouldn’t normally eat shouldn’t put you in bed the entire next day.
You should wake up energized and ready for your day, ready to tackle whatever comes at you.
Chris Evans Workout:
Chris Attributes his hollywood body to a workout based on bodyweight training.
He was always on the move so pull-ups, push-ups and sit-ups made up a majority of his workout.
Looking at the picture above, bodyweight exercises definitely played a role, but I have to admit, I’m not sure a Hollywood trainer would allow his or her star in an upcoming action flick to go without compound exercises.
Examples of compound exercises include:
- Chest Press
- Bench Press
- Row Variation
- Pull up
- Inverse Row
- Front Squat
- Hang Clean
These are just examples, and the key to all of them is form. Compound exercises produce great results, but they are only executed correctly if focus is put on form. Remember that if you plan on incorporating any of the above exercises into your plan.
Since Chris Evans Workout is described by him as being concentrated on bodyweight exercises, some great examples include:
- Single Leg Push Up
- Clap Push Up
- Handstand Push Up
- Inverse Row
- Air Squat
- Jump Squat
Once again, the important thing to do here is to focus on form. If you need some help constructing and maintaining a workout program that will get you results that YOU want, I recommend checking out Turbulence Training.
You might be wondering why I haven’t mentioned any core focused training. That’s because the core, or what many know as the six pack, is activated during every movement. This is especially so during the compound exercises above. Try finding someone who can complete a workout based around intense compound exercises without having a strong core.
In his workouts, Chris Evans likes to mix 3 body-weight exercises, complete as much of each one as possible in 30 seconds, rest for 2 minutes, then repeat until he can no longer keep a decent amount of reps going.
Chris Evans Diet:
Chris Evans hasn’t detailed a diet for his movie yet, although he did say he doesn’t focus on the diet too much anyways in an interview.
Based off other hollywood star workout and diets, we can make an inference to how he structured his diet.
Carb cycling is very popular among celebrity diets. An example that I’ve seen used by celebrities goes as follows:
- Protein + Carbs up until workout for the day
- Post-workout until bed time, keep carbohydrate low and focus on protein +fat
- Off days should be kept quite balanced, possibly lower in carbohydrate, but not too strict
- “Cheat” or let loose once in a while, but don’t completely throw the diet out the window
Final Words on Chris Evans Workout and Diet:
Overall I think one of the most important things we can take from Chris Evans and his workout/diet is his approach to health in general. Stay consistent, but don’t become too strict. It goes along with the motto of this site, we’re in pursuit of healthiness, only to achieve happiness!
My final tip would have to be just to listen to your body. I think this is an important point to emphasize during celebrity workout and diets. What they do might not be what’s the best for you, but we can always learn something.
Additionally, just remember that celebrities weren’t given any more special talent than you in regards to health. If they achieve a body that you appreciate, it’s because they put in the hard work every day. If you have the same passion and want for the body you’re trying to achieve, you can have it.
You’ve just gotta take action and go get it!
