Here is a typical example of an anxiety or panic attack:

Standing in a grocery store checkout line, it’s already been a 15 minute wait but looking on the bright side there's only one customer to go before you make it to the cashier. Wait, what was that unpleasent sensation going on? A weird feeling starts forming in your throat, your chest begins to tighten, now your feeling a sudden rapid shortness of breath, and the next thing you know—your heart starts skipping a beat. Then you start thinking to yourself “Please, God, not here.” this is gonna be so embarrassing!

You scan your surrounding area— Does it appear threatening? 4 not so friendly looking faces stand directly behind you, one person is standing in front of you. It feels like tiny pins and needles are pricking all over your right arm, you start to feel slightly dizzy, And then the reality of pure fear sets in as you prepare yourself for the worst. You are about to experience an anxiety or panic attack.

There is no doubt about it that this is gonna be a big anxiety or panic attack of epic proportions. Okay, think to yourself lets stay focused: Remember what you have been taught about anxiety panic attacks and how to cure them, and it is time now to apply the coping techniques you have been taught. You begin the deep breathing exercise your local M.D told you about. You breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Good!

Now you start thinking about relaxing thoughts, and again, while breathing in, you think “Relax,” and then breathe out. But it doesn’t seem to be doing no good, damn; in fact, just the thought of yourself concentrating on your breathing exercises is making you feel more uptight than before.

Okay, lets try coping technique 2 you were taught:

Gradual muscle relaxation. Tense both of your shoulders, hold that position for approximately 10 to 15 seconds, then release the tension. Then repeat the same technique. No; still you feel no significant difference. I hate to tell you this but the anxiety is getting worse and the very fact that you are out of coping techniques worsens your panic attack. You think to yourself i wish i was surrounded by my family, or a close friend were with me right now so i can have some much needed support in contolling this situation properly!

Now, the adrenaline is moving rapidly throughout your entire system, your body is tingling with all sorts of weird feeling sensations, and now the dreaded feeling of losing complete control overwhelms your inner emotions. No one around you has any idea at all of the complete and utter terror you are experiencing at his very moment in time. For them, it’s just another regular day at the office so to speak. And another aggravating slow day in the grocery store again. Want to know what eventually helped her out through this embarrassing anxiety/panic attack? And what she had previously found, that worked in curing her recurring anxiety/panic attacks? Her story is continued below:
