A Few Action Flicks
After filming some of his movies, Jason Statham let himself go a little too far. Like the average person, he ate too many calories and drank too many beers. Statham wasn't concerned with calories. He would eat whatever he felt like. Unfortunately this added a lot of flab to his midsection. He decided that it was time for a change. He lost 17lbs in 6 weeks! His workouts were only 35 minutes per day, 6 days per week. Of course these weren't easy workouts. Statham describes them as "horrible, nauseating, bastard, murder, nightmare, and priceless." His trainer, former Navy Seal Logan Hood, keeps him motivated every day of the week but Sunday.
Jason Statham Workout Routine
High Intensity Exercises
Jason Statham's workout consists of 2 fundamental rules: never repeat a workout and record everything. By constantly changing his routine, his muscles have no chance to adapt and plateau. By recording everything, Statham knows exactly how much he should be lifting to ensure that he's always improving.
Statham's workout routine consists of 3 stages. The first is a 10 minute warmup phase using a rowing machine. This low impact workout creates a nice cardiovascular benefit and works all primary muscle groups.
The second stage is a medium intensity 10 minute workout. Statham will perform any number of lifts during this phase. He will incorporate heavy strength training, circuits, kettlebells, and medicine balls.
The final phase is the really intense portion of Statham's workout. He performs interval training using 6 circuit training exercises. He does this circuit 5 times, going full out and resting as long as necessary between exercises. The list of exercises he choose include ball slams, rope climbs, pullups, snappers, hanging knee raises, burpees, bear crawls, farmer walks, front squats, rope pulls, weighted stepups. He also performs heavy lifting with compound exercises such as bench press, squats, and deadlifts using 75% of his one rep max.
Jason Statham was as diligent about his diet plan as he was about his training. He tracked every calorie he ate and targeted a 2,000 calorie per day diet. He chose to eat 6 small meals per day. He ate very clean and included lean meats and fish, vegetables, nuts, and protein shakes. Additionally, he completely avoided refined sugars and flour. No fruit juice and no alcohol either. Finally, he tries to drink 1 1/2 gallons of water per day.
