OK, so I bet you're asking yourself what kind of math is this? And, of course, that is a really good question, because there's never been a math class that I attended where two unequal numbers could equal each other. Well, there are some exceptions to every rule. I hope I have your attention now, because this is going to be important information for you to know if you are ever shopping for perfume, cologne,
eau de toilette, eau de parfum, after shave, etc. on the Internet.
So, you have plugged the name of your favorite fragance into some Internet
Search Engine. I won't mention any names, but you know the most popular ones. Now, you've got a list of HUNDREDS, maybe THOUSANDS of Internet sites that sell your favorite fragrance. But, you're confused because some of them say 3.3 oz and some of the say 3.4 oz. So, you find a good price, and you've got one 3.3 oz and one 3.4 oz that are both the same price, so you figure you'll order the 3.4 oz because its a better deal, right????? WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!!!!
Now, I know you are saying "I don't understand., surely everyone knows that 3.4 oz is more than 3.3 oz.. Well, MOST of the time you would be correct, but now you need to do your due diligence and get the facts. So, now that you know, what's your next
move?
Want to have some fun with the clerk at your local retailer's perfume counter> (Please be advised, that you do this at your own risk.) So, you go into to your men's or ladies frragrance counter, and you find a
scent that is marked 3.3 oz, and then you find another one that is marked 3.4 oz. You'll notice that BOTH packages say 100 mL on them. So, you take your new found prize to the counter, and ask the clerk to explain to you how 3.3 oz and 3.4 oz can both equal 100 mL. If your clerk is on the ball, he/she will know the answer to your question. If your clerk doesn't know the answer, know you have the knowledge to explain it to them, and maybe the manager will be standing nearby, and being so impressed with your unusual consumer knowledge, maybe they'll offer you a job on the spot.
