"This guide and software will help you to come through the interview with flying colors."Career's Office. Southeastern Oklahoma State University [please contact me for website address]
Right now the only thing between you and the job you want - is just a few interview questions. That's all. About 20 or 25 KEY interview Questions. Answer them well - and the job is YOURS. Can you imagine this:
The Interview Your Interview is on. You're answering all the questions very well....when the interviewer asks you:
How would you react if I told you that your interview, so far, was TERRIBLE?
Maybe, for a second.....you falter....or stumble. Hesitate. Now.... please consider this: The above questions may SEEM difficult or 'tricky' to answer but the truth is:
It is actually VERY SIMPLE to answer -once you are PREPARED.
How would you react if I told you that your interview, so far, was TERRIBLE?
Stop for a moment and really think...... how would you REACT in the heat of your interview this week if your interviewer said that to you? Would you get angry and annoyed? If so, you would have fallen for the 'TRAP'. Listen to the question again and this time pay close attention to the most important word in the question -'If'. The interviewer is NOT saying that your interview is terrible. He is asking: "How would you react IF I said your interview was terrible." In other words, he is trying to find out how you REACT to..... criticism. That's all. He is TRYING discover what type of person you REALLY are - behind all your 'polished' answers. The real answer to this question is YOUR RESPONSE. That's what the interviewer is looking out for. Do you response calmly and with composure to the question? - or do you get anxious or response aggressively? So listen carefully to the question and don't fall for the bait.
Our interviewer may then continue with more interview questions. Then she might ask you ......
How would you RATE me as an interviewer?
Again - imagine if you got this question this week? Would you feel uncomfortable answering it? You have been trying to build a friendly relationship with your interviewer when she throws this at you? What is the real purpose behind this question? Quite simple. Again the question is designed to quite deliberately throw you off balance - to see how you will react. Can you think on your feet? Can you respond articulately under pressure? When the interviewer asks this question, she will EXPECT you to be surprised and slightly flustered. She is waiting FOR YOUR RESPONSE Instead, if you are prepared you can SURPRISE her - and instead of sounding flustered - simply repeat the question back to her with a smile and add:
"How do I rate you as an interviewer?Well,....... this has been one of the toughest interviews I have ever been through. And......I hope I am successful so that I won't have to go through another one!! No, all the questions were different and very original - unlike, the usual monotonous questions you are always asked at interviews. This question is a good example of that. Totally different! And I understand why you asked it. You want to discover if I can think on my feet and whether I am capable of responding calmly and confidently to situations or questions that may be totally unexpected. I think I could quite easily handle such situations. " Now you don't have to learn and remember all the above words. ONLY the simple strategy or approach we have given you for this kind of Question. And if you get a question like that this week or a variation of it....watch how easily you'll handle it. And..... ....what about these Interview Questions your interviewer may 'casually slip' into your Interview - this week?
