Oldach Wood Windows and Doors: The Oldach Window Company, originally from Nebraska, built and sold windows in the Front Range thru the 80’s and into the early 90’s, and their products were extensively utlized by home builders all along the Front Range by our areas home-builders, and remodelers. Unfortunately, the Oldach wood windows were not properly maintained by most home owners and the drastic elements and wide range of weather we see here in the Front Range, took a toll on most Oldach, Marvin, Pella, Lincoln, Hurd, Peachtree and other brands of wood windows we see these days in home from the 1980's and 1990's.
Here are a couple of examples of what we see on a daily basis...
Drying Wood: This fundamental problem was not with Oldach windows - but a result of wide-ranging dry and moist humidity, ultravilet sunlight - and POOR MAINTENANCE BY HOME OWNERS! The pictures show what many improperly maintained Oldach Windows interiors / exteriors look like. The drying wood on an exterior window sash frame ... wood glazing bead ( top gap trim ) warping and pulling away from glass .. The "Broken Thermoseals" ( insulated glass ) in these dual pane insulated windows originally came with a hermeticly sealed glass system - annealed insulated glass. The primary problem we see with Oldach window glass is no different than most glass seal failure - after about 10-12 years the insulated glass thermo seal fails and This failure leads to condensation and fogging between the window panes.
