Antique Silver 3 Piece Bachelors Teaset Victorian Sheff 1886
This is a lovely Victorian Solid Silver 3 Piece Bachelors Teaset. Each piece has a square shaped body with curved corners and a half reeded pattern to the sides. They are raised on 4 bun feet and the sugar bowl and the cream jug have gilt interiors. The teapot has a patterned hinged lid with a simulated wooden finial and handle.
Assay Office: SHEFFIELD
Date: 1886 (the cream jug and sugar bowl )and the teapot is dated 1887
Makers Marks: H.S
Dimensions: The Teapot is 8 inches from handle to spout, 3.25 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall, the Sugar Bowl is 5 inches from handle to handle and 2.25 inches wide and it stands 3 inches tall. The Cream Jug is 3.25 inches from handle to lip, 1.75 inches wide and it stands 3 inches tall. The total weight of all three pieces is 20.5/8 oz (585g)
Condition: Overall it is in very good condition with just a pin prick ding on the teapot and a very slight impression by the spout but you really have to look (and feel) to actually find it. The cream jug has a pin prick ding and a little staining to the inside. The sugar bowl has one very very shallow little ding but again this is very small and only noticeable on close inspection. There are also a couple of discolouration spots inside but again this is minor
Remarks: This is a very good 122 year old Victorian solid silver bachelors 3 piece teaset which would make a lovely display item when not in use, perhaps placed on a silver tray. It would make a lovely family heirloom to be passed down through generations. It is also a must for any collector of good quality genuine antique silver
