Why were my teeth so awful?

My teeth weren’t always so terrible. As a kid I hardly had any cavities and after a couple months of braces they were, pretty perfect, I have to say. But I started smoking at the end of high school. I knew it was bad for you, but I didn’t realize the toll it would take on my teeth. I quit smoking on my 31th birthday but my teeth never really recovered. I have a weakness for coffee and drink a lot of soda too. I also worked freelance so had no dental coverage. Let’s face it, going in for a professional cleaning is expensive. Sure I brushed twice a day, but the years of smoking, plus all those fizzy drinks and espressos really affected my teeth. One night I was watching CNN when I saw something that would change my life.
