V.Q. Powell History
In 1915, V.Q. Powell creates his first flute by melting down his wife's silver wear (later referred to as the spoon flute).
This is a lovely handmade 2100 solid sterling silver flute, open holes, extruded tone holes, French key arms, gold springs, B footjoint, c-gizmo key, Powell headjoint, Powell wooden case, and rod.
The Sound
All Powell headjoints have similar characteristics that are referred to as “The Powell Sound”. Every Powell headjoint is known for its color, clarity, depth and projection. Each style is designed to fit many types of music, flute playing and players; as well as their individual requirements. Powell headjoints are made by professional flutists, who have been trained in the traditional style of headjoint making at Powell Flutes
