What should you feel after a healing? Occasionally, as a spiritual healing facilitator, I've done work with people who afterwards said they really didn't feel anything. It's not typical but it happens. However, if these same people keep coming back, I begin to notice that they have shifted in some positive way. Not feeling anything during a Reiki session does not mean the energy is not there and working with you. Reiki is a respectful modality. A knowledgeable Reiki practitioner will never attempt to force energy before it's time. There is an unfoldment and integration time with some people, for specific reasons. Sometimes, there is fear or resistance (at an unconscious level mostly). Even though a person may say they felt nothing on the table, they will just as often remark on feeling tense afterwards. Often the tense feeling is in the solar plexus area or throat after the session, or they will find themselves breathing in shallow, slightly labored ways. All these physical reactions are signs that the energy has touched a resistance or fear that needs time to release. The energy will work it's way through the resistance if the person is willing. Sometimes, the disbelief in distant healing can get in the way of the participant actually noticing changes in a Reiki distant healing session but that does not mean the energy was not sent. Reiki waits in the energetic field of the person it is sent to, and will either dissolve into those around the person who might be more open to healing or will integrate into the field of the person requested the healing, at the pace that is best for them at a soul level. So, a new healing facilitator must remember that the degree of reaction is not really important. More on this at Ask A Healer |
