This lacquered wooden brooch is likely Russian in origin. Most often these art pieces depict floral motifs. It is more difficult to come across a complete story scene. This lovely art jewelry is individually handmade, painted, and lacquered to protect the fine art work. It is a round pin with a simple safety pin back. The background is black lacquer and it has a wonderful edge painting on it as well. The delicate floral surround design is intricate in its brush strokes and detailing. The artwork on this brooch represents a young lover holding a peacock feather, seated on earth on a clear dark night with stars and a crescent in gold color; also in the background notice the beautifully detailed horse, mansion and green fauna.
