Machinima Studios Magazine is a bi-monthly publication for the art of machinima, a film making medium using gaming platforms to produce live-action animation.
The publication is an online magazine that’s free to read and download. It is distributed through high visibility online venues. The reason for offering it free is to boost readership quickly for branding purposes. This also increases the benefits to advertisers.
Magazine relaunch: March-April Issue
We are relaunching the magazine for March. It's bigger, better, and a new format with an all new marketing campaign.
Quick Stats:
The first three issues in 2012 had over 10,000 impressions, with approximately 1,000 readers all together. The magazine is hosted in online format at Issuu and Scribd. Two other online distribution outlets are being considered along with print on demand options for physical copies.
New marketing campaign design and paid assistance - We expect to break 5,000 readers on this relaunch issue over the months of March and April.
Demographics:
Fans of machinima and participants of virtual world games and MMORPG game play, which will make up the core of our primary readership, is in the hundreds of millions.
Machinima.com is a major machinima hosting site. They report views to their machinima content for January, 2013 being over 2.5 billion views of their content.
The primary audience is between 18 and 26 years of age. The secondary audience is between 27 and 40 years of age. The machinima and gaming industries are predominantly male, although the percentage of women is rising.
What works best?
Readership tends to be artistic or technology oriented, particularly when it comes to software and gaming. Ads that do best:
