16.1h sorrel gelding. Will be 14 years old. Lovely gaits. Nice mover. Honest and very bold jumper. Great personality, but quirky. Will meet you at the pasture gate every time. Loves attention! Ties, loads, bathes, stands for farrier. No vices, but does best with lots of turn out/pasture time. He is not spooky at all, but he IS a thoroughbred. He does not buck, bite, kick, rear or bolt. If he has some kind of routine, he is very well mannered and is a joy to ride. Can go barefoot in good footing. Currently wearing front shoes.
Shown jumpers (up to 4ft) but not for several years, 1st level dressage (definitely has potential to go higher and can do higher level movements!), sport horse versatility and novice eventing. Bold and forward mover. Will probably not do well in high level hunters. Was schooled in low level hunters a couple of years ago and did ok. Great on trail rides. He doesn't spook at anything. He likes to go and wants to see everything. Loves to hack out and has a great trot and jog. Has been ridden western. Has seen cows and doesn't seem to care much. He has been "loped" through pole and barrel patterns, but never pushed. Seems like he could do it. Was great at fun shows - straight away barrels, flag race, etc.
This is NOT a beginner horse. He collects easily and is sensitive/responsive on a light rein. If you know how to ride, you will enjoy this horse. I am his 4th owner. Came off the track but only started a few times. From the track he went to a jumper barn in Houston, then one in Austin and I have had him for 5 years. I have only shown him at local shows.
He has been sitting idle in the pasture for way too long! Needs a job! Does best if worked a minimum of 2-3 times per week and needs more attention than he's getting now. I only have time to ride him a couple times a week (at best) and can't keep up with my horses and my husband's horse while he's deployed for a year. So, Freeway is for sale to a GOOD home. Price is very negotiable. This is a nice horse and with a month or two of riding - he will be ready to compete. I want him to go to a good home where he will be loved and ridden. He would be perfect for someone who wants to try lots of different things. School him over fences Monday, Western on Tuesday, trail ride Wednesday and Thursday, Dressage Friday, show all weekend...
He is currently being ridden by a trainer every other week. Doing great! Schooling nicely on the flat and nearly ready for 1st level. Just started schooling over fences again and is doing well. Took him XC schooling this weekend and he did great! jumped everything we put in front of him.
Possibly willing to lease. Lease payments can be flexible and can count toward purchase.
Call or email for more information. Serious inquiries, please. I will not sell this horse for $1000 or to someone who won't give him a wonderful home or ride him regularly. Thanks!! 512-213-8793. Email for more pics. Come out and ride him!
