Jose is a friendly, laid back kinda guy that is beginner friendly but also needs someone around with horse knowledge if for a beginner. We have used him in lessons, and camp with beginners but I recommend a horsie home with someone who has knowledge because he can take advantage of a true beginner, especially a timid one. He is broke well, never a buck, rear or argument when wanting to go but he is not a dead head therefore not for someone timid. He is great to lead around and you can trust to put anyone on him but once you have the reins you have to at least have the basics because he can be fast at the trot. Jose would be suitable for a kid in a horsey home, just not a timid beginner if riding alone. Jose is not suitable for strenuous riding or competing he is more for back yard riding, light trails and ring work. No lameness issues but mild case of OCPD therefore no strenuous work. I would consider a trade on a young horse not broke but NO babies-would even consider a pony. We can't use Jose-he is too fast for our beginners (to trot by themselves) and can't be worked hard as an event horse which requires much endurance because of his condition but I know there is a perfect home out there for him. Price negotiable to right home but home must be able to financially take care of a horse NOT just throw them out on pasture to fend for themselves please.
