This beautiful gelding is available for a half or full lease from the end of August 2013 until the end of May 2014! Baby Hughy's registered name is Black Flash, he is a registered Paint (black and white but his black is fading to brown!) He stands at 16.1 hands tall, he is 20 years old and he has one blue eye. He is up to date on all necessary vaccinations and is very healthy. I have ridden him English for past 10 years, but he has been trained in Western as well. He can jump, knows dressage, and is a dream on the trails!

I am looking for someone who will be able to get out to see him (not necessarily ride but at least lunge/feed/groom/etc) at least 3 days/week. I would prefer someone who has at least intermediate experience with horses and has a firm grasp of how to ride and care for them properly. Hughy is a doll, he will stand for hours while you groom him and never make a fuss (his only vice is that he is a bit lazy!). He is a very smooth ride and patient and smart under saddle, but he requires a firm hand to keep him from his lazy desires! He is great with all ages (as well as pets) but as I said I would prefer not to have him mostly ridden by a beginner because I want him to remain trained while I am gone.

I would be open to discussing either a half- or full-lease. The cost of care would vary based on the style of lease, which I would be happy to discuss further. Overall he is very low-maintenance; other than general needs (shots, shoes, board) and any necessary first-aid, he needs to eat warm bran mash after each workout because he has been prone to colic in the past and it helps his digestive tract. In addition, he hooves tend to get very dry so he needs frequent applications of hoof oil. Finally, his rear-end tends to get stiff, so he drags his back hooves and needs consistent exercise to stretch him out. Other than that he is happy on his own, and prefers the pasture to a stall. He is currently boarding at Greentree Farms, and it would be preferable to keep him there because he is comfortable in his herd, but I would be open to discussing alternatives if you would like to keep him elsewhere.

Please let me know if you are interested. I would be happy to chat on the phone or meet in person to discuss further. And feel free to pass on this message to anyone else who might be interested!
