Plans Build Aeolian wind Harp Play Music Window
You can easily build this fascinating wind harp which makes music in the slightest breeze
Almost unknown today the window harp works on a principle that was used in Biblical times. King David liked to hang his aeolian harp over his bed so that the varying tuneful patterns produced by the night breezes playing over the strings would lull him to sleep.
This plan shows the construction of a modern aeolian window harp which has a long sound box over which nylon guitar strings are stretched. The length of the box can be designed to fit any window in your home. A raised cover over the strings allows the window to be lowered so that the air current is directed over the strings producing an ethereal musical sound that varies with the intensity of the wind. You can even make music by allowing an electric fan to blow over the harp.
This plan was published in a magazine and is copyright expired and in the public domain. We have copied it and enlarged the pages by 125% to 8"X11" and for your use. Clear photos and drawings show how to build this simple instrument.
