Custom restored Top-of-the-line 2500 model 12-speed. Columbus SL 3.9 lb.stripped weight frame made in Italy 1990's. S# 872. Originally Campagnolo factory equipped.
Chrome Benotto fork pantographed BENOTTO on fork crown, on seat stays and on dropouts
Downtube braze-ons for shifters. Bottle cage bosses. Separate rear derailleur hanger, rear axle adjustment screws.
Standover Height = 33". Center tube & top tube are both 23" c-c (58cm).
Total bike weight = 22 lbs.
There were Benotto's made in Mexico but not the Columbus SL frames like this one.
They were made in Italy, then painted in Mexico and the finished bikes were shipped out from there.
On a scale of 10 the paint is probably a 7-8. Not the very best but not bad, either.
This frame was originally a lightly ridden bike shop's racing team bike, not crashed or abused.
Bars: Alloy (generic), new Cinelli black custom wrap. SR quill stem.
Brakes: Shimano Exage single-pull white hooded levers. Suntour Blaze quick-release side-pull calipers.
Derailleurs: Shimano Light Action Accu-Shift. Shimano Accu-Shift downtube indexed or friction levers.
Crankset: Sugino SR, 165mm pedal arms, 52t/48t chain rings. New 'Z' chain.
Wheelset: Benotto 700c (original) front, Maillard hub made in France, Ultegra quick-release skewer. Mistral 700c (new replacement) rear by Sun Metals USA, sealed bearing hub, Ultegra quick-release skewer. Shimano 6-gear freewheel.
Tires: New Seca 23c Combi LT 110 psi, presta-stem tubes.
Bottom bracket: Shimano Italian thread sealed cartridge, 115mm axle.
Saddle: Avocet. Post: LaPrade micro-adjust 27.2
Pedals: Not included.
