Back
in the 19th
century, as soccer started becoming popular in English villages, it
used to be
played not in teams, but in mobs of people that crunchingly smashed a
pig
bladder around from one another, often sparking fights between
villages, or
between individuals. Seeing how chaotic the game was, several English
gentleman
gathered up in a brewery in 1863 and set up the Laws of the Game, a
sort of
constitution containing the soccer
rules.
Nowadays,
the Laws of
the Game have been adapted and soccer players live by 17 main rules.
Here’s a
great site that covers these in detail: http://www.soccer-fans-info.com/soccer-rules.html.
