Joana’s 1-70 Horde Leveling Guide - 9/10
Joana / Mancow is, as far as I know, the fastest WoW leveler in the world. His record is 4 days 20 hours to 60 on a new server and he’s now getting ready to do 1-70 speed runs. His guide is all about leveling to 70 as fast as possible as Horde by questing.

Since he has recorded the 4 day 20 hour run to streamable or downloadable video clips, you can watch every move he did. You’ll be able to see exactly what it really takes to get such an awesome time.
Joana always plays a hunter (of course), since it’s the best and fastest solo class. But this guide can be used with any horde race and class. In fact, the optimal quest pattern is almost the same for every class. The only difference is that you would also do your class quests. And some classes, like mages, don’t even have any "must do" class quests.
If you do choose to play a hunter, Joana provides many hunter specific tips in the guide, not to mention all the experience you’ll get from watching the videos. There’s a very good leveling build described, all the way up to level 70, which outlines in which order to place every single talent point. You’ll also learn when to tame different beasts to learn new abilities, as well as hunter hotkeys, gameplay tips and the occassional hunter quest.
He’s adding new things regularly, too, so the "free updates for life" is a promise he delivers on. Recently, for example, he added a step-by-step 60-70 guide (whereas before it was only a reference guides with how to do the quests from 60-70 but not in which order to do them).
I had an objection to this guide earlier, concerning the level of detail of the instructions. But with the latest update, that has improved.
The instructions are more detailed now, he will more often tell you exactly which quests to pick up and where, and he has added a lot of coordinates that weren’t there before. There are still areas that can benefit from more coordinates and more instructions, and it’s good to see that the guide is heading in that direction.
Here’s an insider tip for you: I have mapped out ALL the coordinates in this guide - just like I did with Brian Kopp’s 1-70 Alliance Guide - so you can use them to easily find your way everywhere with the guide, using the MetaMap mod. As for the /played time to 60, most people can expect 5-8 days if they follow the guide without wasting time. /Played time to 70 is not known to me yet, but I would guess about 10 days. Click here for more information. |
