Ten things that will really kill your diet!


Don't avoid fat! Of course you don't want to splurge on the stuff, but fats are necessary for body functions, from your brain to your feet. Just make sure you are getting your fats from healthy sources.


Don't avoid carbs! Again, don't go overboard, but without the energy generated by carbohydrate fuel, you won't burn off the body fat!


Don't skip meals. The last time I drove past the gas station with the needle at "E" I ended up stranded. You stop eating when you are hungry, and your diet will be stranded too. Your body will shut down and hoard calories, and you end up not only not losing, but gaining weight when you do eat.


Don't drink your calories! Sodas, juices, and other sugar drinks fill you up with calories that won't stick around very long. You end up hungrier than when you started, and eat more than you should. Drink water (cleanses you too) and eat juicy foods!


Don't forget water! Water weight is good weight. Water flushes your system and in the long run will result in more rapid weight loss. Ideally, start your day with a big glass of water before you eat or drink anything else.


Don't bother with "diet" food. Most prepared diet foods are tricking you with more sugar, salt, and questionable fats than you think. Making up the same calorie count with whole foods will result in bigger portions, more energy, and a healthier weight loss.


Don't be hungry! Hunger (real hunger, not an idle craving) means something is missing in your body. Snacks are good for you and keep your metabolism going!


Don't forget exercise. Keeping up a moderate, long term, workout routine is easier than you think..just keep walking!


Don't forget your mind. Stress will sabotage your diet every time. Make a point of keeping your mind in shape, too.


Don't give up. You won't always lose. Some days bloating might be your enemy, some days are more stressful than others. But a long term program will work, if you believe in yourself and your body!
