BUCKET & BRUSH METHOD
Put the mixture in a bucket and use a hand brush: however, if you prefer standing up, purchase a long-handled brush from your hardware store -- makes it much easier! It's great exercise -- and you can take a break, or take as long as you want--there's no "machine" to return!!!
Add extra DRI-CLENE to stubborn stains....and they're gone!
To use as a velvet & veloure upholstery shampoo, fluff up the water and scoop the bubbles off the top with a rag or washcloth. If you can't vacuum, wipe over area with clean wet rag.

MACHINE METHOD
Once mixed, pour it into a carpet shampooer. Some models have brushes - similar to an Electrolux, and some are called "Steamers" or "Steamer Shampooers" (without brushes - similar to a Bissell). I truly believe that the rental machines (in the grocery and hardware stores) do a beautiful job, are in excellent condition and very affordable....so you save in not having to pay so much money to own one. The rental model with brushes is my choice (the Rug Doctor).
NOTE: All rented carpet shampooers include an upholstery shampoo attachment. Works great!!
