You can also add free sub domains to your domain name - you get your first domain name free - and you can add
unlimited subdomains! What's more, you can host
unlimited domain names in your web hosting account!
Where is this amazing deal?
It's the best web hosting deal I could find - at
Dreamhost, and I have looked at a LOT of options.
For $7.95 per month (2 year sign up) you get a free set up and an initial
free domain name, then
UNLIMITED ADDITIONAL DOMAINS
hosted. That is a huge advantage of flexibility, to allow you to put up
extra domains when you need. Also you get unlimited sub-domains. Sure,
each added domain costs an extra registration fee, but that is only
$9.95 per year, which is what most website hosts charge.
Now here is a deal!
Save $50 on any Dreamhost package with
this coupon:
That's worth about 6 months of free hosting to you!You
get a huge 150GB of storage of the server and an "impossibly large"
monthly bandwidth throughput of 1.5TB! (These limits may be increasing
- check with Dreamhost for their latest deals) Its shared hosting, and
if you consistently use these levels I suppose there may be some
discussion about dedicated servers, but it sure puts your mind at rest
about the possible costs of being hit by a flurry of traffic from Digg
or SlashDot.
And those allowances keep growing every month you stay with Dreamhost!
I
was a little worried about their customized control panel before
signing on. Some people prefer working with what they know, like the
widely used c-Panel. But Dreamhost's control panel is just so easy and
fast to work with, and you get the usual Wordpress, shopping cart and
many more "goodies" with easy installation. MySQL/PHP is standard,
along with CGI, PERL, etc., and there are even leading edge options,
such as Ruby on Rails. An excellent mail server comes with your site,
with a spam filter. All the usual suspects you expect of hosts these
days ...
You
can register privately without your personal address featuring for all
to see in Whois. If it is relevant to your choice of content, Dreamhost
is not into censorship, so long as what you do with your site is legal.
There are other options: a shorter or monthly term, more capacity (as if many of us would need any more!), and so forth.
Reliability
in my experience has been a "perfect 10" though I believe a fire did
briefly disrupt some servers a while back. Dreamhost has a very good
reputation, especially when you take into account its very high growth
rate.
You
don't normally get personal telephone support, but the email technical
support is right on the ball in my one brief experience (which turned
out to be my problem). And nothing much seems to go wrong anyway, so
whats the fuss?
