CASE MAY BE CRACKED Here for the Party, this sassy, strong-singing Redneck Woman's 2004 debut, was a giant smash, but All Jacked Up's even better: diverse, rockin', and topped by a sensuous, soulful surprise bonus-track version of Billie Holiday's "Good Morning Heartache." Wilson kick-starts this guitar-and-fiddle-fired CD with the title track--a whiskey-drinkin' sequel to "Redneck"--and the ode to down-home women "California Girls." "Skoal Ring" suggests that the couple that chaws together stays together, and "One Bud Wiser" is a crafty tongue-in-cheek weeper that pays tribute to George Jones in both its lyrics and Wilson's copycat phrasing. Another legend, Merle Haggard, celebrates salt-of-the-earth American virtues with Wilson on the duet "Politically Uncorrect." And "Not Bad for a Bartender" is three and a half minutes of autobiography, detailing the eighth-grade education, floor-sweeping, and saloon-keeping that were all stops on Wilson's unlikely road to success. Funny, fiery, and moving, All Jacked Up proves this 32-year-old's career has plenty of mileage left.

Dead Prez, Elephant Man, Jadakiss, Jazze Pha, Lil Jon, Talib Kweli, Carl Thomas. Following up the one-two punch of MISSISSIPPI: THE ALBUM and MTA2, David Banner unleashes 2005's CERTIFIED, a solid record that continues the Dirty South rapper's winning streak. There are no throwaway intro/interlude numbers here, just grimy, unfiltered hip-hop tracks. The disc kicks off with the forceful "Lost Souls," which features Banner's gruff voice perfectly complemented by a distorted guitar riff and burbling beats. Despite the numerous guest shots (Lil Jon, Jadakiss, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, and many more), some of CERTIFIED's best tracks showcase Banner alone, especially the pounding, X-rated single "Play" and the chiming California-rap tribute "Westside." Relentlessly fierce and unapologetically sleazy, Banner plays to his strengths on this album, and the result is Southern rap at its finest.

CASE MAY BE CRACKED Taking a major U-turn from their 2005 effort D.O.D., Do or Die have stripped things to their bare essentials on Get That Paper, and it suits this veteran, underappreciated trio perfectly. No Kanye West, no R. Kelly this time, just Bun B, whose appearance on the slippery slow jam "Hey Ma!" is a Chicago-meets-the-South highlight, while everything else on this solid effort is homegrown. Most of the album is coated with smoothed-out street tracks from the group's longtime producer the Legendary Traxster, the man who best understands Do or Die's sometimes cold and heartless, sometimes laid-back and wide-open style. Get That Paper balances the two worlds of Do or Die better than any previously release, easily flowing from club tracks to more cold and soul-searching numbers before exiting with two of their hardest efforts. The track list isn't bloated, nothing here sounds forced or anything but genuine, and if members AK, Belo, and Nard will never be mistaken for Rakim or 2Pac, they've grown and have plenty to offer lyric-lovers, especially on the vivid "On My Own," which is filled with frustration and doubt. While Get That Paper is so self-contained and unapologetically unconcerned with what is hot it may never make an impact on hip-hop across the board, it is Do or Die at their finest.

CASE MAY BE CRACKED On his solo debut Creed vocalist Scott Stapp steps up with an album that delicately balances his past with his present but without apology for either. Songs such as "Reach Out" and "You Will Soar" appease longtime fans without serving as mere Creed retreads, but the material that breaks almost entirely from tradition (namely "Sublime") remains some of the most satisfying. With no fewer than three single-worthy tracks--"Let Me Go," "Surround Me," "You Will Soar," plus the already-released title cut--The Great Divide doesn't just find Stapp standing firmly on his own feet it also finds him, more often than not, reaching for new heights

CASE MAY BE CRACKED Embark on a journey to the sights, sounds and sensations of the mysterious and romantic Mediterranean with flamenco-jazz guitarist Marc Antoine. The gypsy spirit and classical soul of Antoine recordings can't help but transport instrumental fans seeking musical paradise. "The most important element of my career has been the fact that I've always been open to new places, styles and experiences, and through my adventures I've been able to learn so much," he says. "There's a great element of travel to my music, and I love experimenting with new ideas and influences. Maybe being a Gemini fits with being a gypsy, a sense of never wanting to settle in one place. Paris was home, London was home, and Los Angeles was home. Now I'm settling into Madrid and it's also my home. My wife's relatives are there and my family is not far (in Brittany and the South of France). No matter where I am, I'm always home." Growing up in Paris, Antoine began playing guitar at age eleven and spent his early teens as a developing musician. Trained at the International School of Classical Guitar, he played jazz and Afro-pop in Paris clubs, performed with the London based Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra, and was first introduced to smooth jazz audiences when he toured with Basia in 1988. While living in London for a spell, Antoine played on Soul II Soul's landmark first album and immersed himself in the city's acid jazz scene. After moving to Los Angeles, he added acid jazz stylings to recordings by Guru's Jazzmatazz, Solsonics, Queen Latifah, DJ Greyboy, Sting and the late Selena. Most recently, Antoine played flamenco-styled guitar on the #1 dance album by The Latin Project, which featured his song "En Fuego," co-written by Jez Colin and Matt Cooper of Incognito. Antoine has appeared on numerous recording projects by smooth jazz stars (David Benoit, Dave Koz) and has been part of five Guitars, Saxes & More concert tours with smooth jazz greats Peter White, Richard Elliot, Kirk Whalum, Everette Harp and Rick Braun.
