Black Swan Ranch Facilities
Unlike the larger public barns, our facility has a laid-back feel to it. We have all the amenities of a larger barn (indoor and outdoor arenas, round pen, locked tack room etc.) without the over crowding seen in a lot of public barns. We try to keep one of the managers or owners on site at all times, and Meagan (full time manager and trainer) lives on site.
Our outdoor arena has good sand footing that we groom regularly and has several out door flood lights for night-time useage. There is also an automatic waterer located at one end of the arena to allow your horse a break and a drink on hot days. The indoor arena has good footing, with shock absorbing tire pieces mixed in and oil treated sand to cut down on the dust. We also have a 60ft round pen with easy access to the pasture and the horse paddocks.
Inside the barn we have two holding pens with waterers and a cross-tie area with stall mats. Located next to the cross ties is our enclosed tack room. We have a small fridge and a microwave set up in the tack room as well as the normal accessories (saddle racks, bridle hooks etc.).
Since we do not have the space or the facilities to board fifty or more horses, there is very little fighting over space and arena usage. We do not board more than 11 horses at a time, so boarding space is limited, but we would rather have a small number of boarders who can come to a relaxed environment and enjoy their horses than run a large facility where everyone is jockeying for arena and round pen use.
Boarding Services
All horses are given an individual feeding and nutrition program, which we will go over with you. We feed good quality mountain hay twice daily as well as a fortified high quality grain and supplements in the evening. We are concerned about the horse's health and welfare at Black Swan Ranch, and want to ensure that every horse is getting the very best diet possible.
Outdoor Paddock - Large one horse enclosure with shelter and automatic waterer. Pens are cleaned at least once a week. All out door paddocks have vinyl fencing lined with hot-tape.
Indoor Boxstall - You have the option of either a conventional box stall or an indoor stall with one "open" side. The conventional boxstalls do not have immediate access to the horse runs or pasture. The "open" stalls have dutch doors leading to the outdoor runs and to the pasture. All indoor stalls have automatic waterers and are cleaned daily. Horses boarded inside will be turned out in the pasture for one day a week, weather permitting.
Indoor/Outdoor Package - The best of both worlds! Your horse will be turned out in one of our out door paddocks daily and then brought in at night or during bad weather.
Foaling Box - Large foaling box set up with heat lamps, automatic waterer and video monitor. We sterillize the walls and stall mats before a new mare moves in. The foaling box is lined with cedar bedding covered in a thick layer of fresh straw. Your mare will be turned out daily while kept in the foaling box, but only for a few hours at a time.
