How does the Chinese fortune telling system-I Ching work?
The I-Ching, or Book of Changes, is the world's oldest known book
and earliest intuitive decision-making system of any complexity.
The Chinese fortune telling system is traditionally consulted by
tossing coins or yarrow stalks. The way the coins fall
corresponds to one of 64 patterns of change derived from the
profound wisdom of the ever-changing dynamics of the yin and
yang principles.
Consult the Chinese fortune telling system, I Ching, to gain
insights into personal questions and situations, especially
changing conditions. I-Ching readings have been used by Chinese
sages and emperors for centuries since long before the time of
Confucius, who added to the Chinese fortune telling, I-Ching's
interpretative text almost 3000 years ago. Sincere use of the
I-Ching will help you make the right moves at the right time, and
know what to expect when you do!
About the Lines
Changing Lines are the part of the Chinese fortune telling system,
I Ching, reading that always gives the most powerful advice about
a situation because they represent the factors that are causing
things to change right now.
The odds are against casting a Changing Line (about the same as
tossing 3 coins and having all 3 come up heads). But most
castings of an I-Ching hexagram (i.e. six line form) do produce
one or more Changing Lines.
If there are Changing Lines, there is also a second hexagram
called "Future" which is created by reversing all the Changing
Lines (those marked by a dot at the end) into their opposite --
yin into yang and yang into yin. The Future hexagram is very
important because it is the part of the Chinese fortune telling
system, I Ching, reading that predicts the way things are going
to go if you follow the advice of the Changing Lines.
