May 11th, 2007 Update:Here are some excellent examples of user reviews, feedback and questions on the training material, and Steve Krenz's replies, which was compiled from the archives of the online LMG community.Steve's Learn & Master Guitar course is a bit on the pricey side, but you will get your full money's worth in terms of the amount and variety of lessons bundled in the kit.More importantly, the structure (I review the content in greater detail here) in which the training is presented is about as organized and as effective as attending much more expensive guitar classes. That's one of the best ways to build a solid foundation for learning to play the guitar.Plus, you get Steve's attention and the support of other customers in the member forum. So, if you are convinced by your own research on this product and from reading through the compilation of user reviews and discussions surrounding the L&MG course, you have three options for purchasing the kit.Option 1Purchase the course right now, directly from the official site, which is [please contact me for website address] 2Wait until the price drops. From my experience, the price drops significantly in the week leading up to a major holiday, for instance, Thanksgiving. I wasn't fortunate enough to get it at a low price, having just missed the holiday offer by a bit. If you can wait, just watch this page like a hawk for any price reductions.Option 3Find a pre-owned, or used copy. You could browsing Craigslist or eBay.Conclusion:If you really desire to start playing the guitar in the right manner, with solid grounding in principles, then the L&MG course is for you.Though it may seem expensive, and you might not be able to find a cheaper, used version at a lower price, I assure you it's money well paid. You will not be able to find classroom or private guitar lessons at this price point and quality, covering such breadth and depth of guitar theory and practice.Having owned my own copy for a while, I should know - don't forget to read my full review of Learn & Master Guitar for further information.Other Learning MaterialThe L&MG course is not meant for everybody, so these alternatives can be considered. I picked these up from recommendations by members of various guitar forums - hope they prove helpful to you:Guitar for DummiesPopular Learning Guitar BooksMusician's Institute Guitar Training CatalogThe Musician's Institute Guitar Fretboard Workbook... more to come - stay tuned!Let's continue with Steve Krenz's L&MG story ...It's always a good practice to look for available deals whenever we purchase stuff online - we look for coupon codes, or discounts, and frequently, we attempt to look for the best available prices. It's no different with the Learn and Master Guitar course - you probably have searched high and low for the best deals, maybe the cheapest prices, and have found none that's better than what's already offered at the official site (the one I linked to in the first paragraph). There are good reasons why, and there's also a way to get a better deal than going direct to the merchant's site. After all, who doesn't like a really good and genuine deal? OK, you've read tons of glowing reviews on the very professional-looking Learn and Master Guitar course, you have your credit card ready, convinced that this is THE guitar instruction package which will catapult you to guitar mastery in no time. You then do what comes naturally to any savvy online shopper, and that is to search for the cheapest price for the L & M Guitar course. What I'm about to reveal might disappoint you, but unfortunately, you won't find any. Here are 5 reasons why, and also how you can still find the best Learn and Master Guitar deals. Five Reasons Why The Cheapest Price on Learn and Master Guitar Course Doesn't Exist Reason #1 - Like any other guitar training of true quality, there will not be a compelling reason for the merchant to give any discounts on the product. The package sells so well at its current price tag that it does not make any sense for seller to give a so-called "best price" on it. There is no sign that the demand for the LM course is ever going to exhaust itself, and in my 20 years of playing the guitar, I have never seen a guitar learning kit that is as comprehensive or as learner-focused as this course from master guitarist Steve Krenz. Reason #2 - There's always one (often more strings) attached when you read up about an offer to sell you the L&M course at a cheap price. Frequently, that deal requires you to buy something else that costs more than the price reduction on the L & M package, or requires you to subscribe to a paid guitar forum which charges a monthly fee that's more than the savings you got buying from them. I don't call these genuine deals at all, not by a long shot. Reason #3 - It will be difficult to purchase a second-hand or preowned LM package. Current owners are not going to sell you their copy because it simply is ... that good. Plus, and this is important advice, do not buy through eBay. Ebay is notorious for shoddy deals where the seller sells you the electronic components of the L & M package, that is, the components that can be illegally copied, such as the DVDs which contain the excellent video tutorials. Trust these unethical sellers to tell you that these DVDs cost only $5 if you buy from them, only to slap you with a $50 shipping charge when you check-out your purchase. And you sure don't want to be the owner of pirated goods. Reason #4 - Nobody would entertain the thought of putting up a web page just to offer the best price for the L & M package to you. It costs precious time and money to maintain a web page, and they have no assurance that anybody would purchase the lesson package from them. Reason #5 - Even though nobody's willing to offer you a discounted price for the LM Guitar course, a handful might be willing to give you a free bonus. Be on the lookout though, for the quality of the bonuses they offer. Based on my experience, avoid those who want to give you the free gift of: "... an electronic metronome to turbocharge your guitar-playing ...", "... a free ebook on how to make money from playing the guitar ... ", "... the best Christmas carols to practice your guitar with ... ", or "... a free printable guitar chords chart ...", and the list goes on. Most of these "free gifts" are, guess what, are readily available on the internet. One example is the Guitar Lessons for Beginners Archive at About.com - there's no better collection of free lessons out there on the internet than the one I just pointed out. If you want more "free guitar gifts" as I call them, just check with me - I have a ton of them bookmarked on my hard drive.(Full FTC Disclosure) |
