I have 2 miniature horses looking for a temporary home while I finish up college (should be for about 2 years). Lucy is a sorrel mare and Pokey is a silver dapple pinto gelding. They are the sweetest little horses. Extremely friendly, very gentle, very easy to handle. Lucy was shown for a few year as a halter obstacle horse and hunter jumper and knows a few little tricks. Pokey is more of the pasture pet, but all he wants is attention and love all the time. They have both pulled a cart but I would prefer they retire from that because they both started getting tired of it. However if a family wanted to start showing, we might be able to work somehting out with Lucy and halter obstacle and hunter/jumper classes. Pokey is not registered. Lucy is both AMHA and AMHR regsitered. I also do NOT want Lucy to be bred to.
The first people we leased them out to used them for a therapy program, however did not take great care of them and I decided to take them back. We then found what I thought to be the perfect place, and they have been there for almost a year I think, but they recently called me and told me to take them back because they did not think they could care for them anymore. They had them out on pasture and they were just getting too fat. So the people who decide to take them now need to keep them in shape, and not just use them as lawn ornaments. I would prefer them NOT to be on pasture due to the fact they could founder very easily.
I will trailer them to anywhere in CA, and I would like them to stay in CA, preferable central coast area, but we will consider anywhere. You would pay for feed, shots, worming, any necessary vet visits, or anything else that you would pay for if you did own them. All I would ask is that I can visit them when I can, and if one was to become sick that I get called immediately. At any time you decide you do not want them anymore, I am happy to take them back, and when I finish college I will be planning on taking them back.
