Before I lived with my people, I had a bit of a sad story, as most rescue dogs have. I lived down south and some mean people were hitting me on the head. I was transported to MN and have had a great foster mother who fattened me up and also happened to be the shelter’s dog trainer! I learned a lot of nice manners from her. I had a couple ear infections which my vet said could have been because of the head trauma, but other than that, I don’t have any thing else wrong in the head!! ;) I do have a few bumps on my skin that the vet says are little benign cysts. She says keep my diet free of dog food with corn as the main ingredient and it helps keeps those at bay. I am spayed, current on my heartworm/Frontline, current on vaccinations, and microchipped (but the chip might still register back to the rescue shelter, my silly people may have forgotten to figure out how to update it).
I am attached to my owners, especially my human dad. I like to be surrounded by people. I want to know where my people are around the house. If I get left at home alone, it’s best to keep me in my own area or outside because I get curious! I LOVE being outside, and right now I have my own big kennel AND custom made doggie house. I love watching all the neighbors and activities outside. It’s rare that I bark at anyone or anything unless it is something extremely exciting or scary! But, sometimes I cry for my people if I am alone too long.
I do like to play with other dogs, but sometimes it doesn’t go over very well. A lot of small dogs like to “yip” at me; in most cases I ignore them and try to play nice. But there are sometimes when I have showed my authority with small dogs, but I have NEVER hurt any of them, just scared them off a bit ;) Big dogs are another story. We just don’t get along at all; I like to be the big girl on campus. I’m not really a good dog park patron. But with my human dad, I enjoy walking around the lake and the neighborhood. I am also very fit; he takes me on lots of runs/jogs about 2-3 times per week! I love it!
I have visited with kids as young as infant and up to 10 years old and was very patient with them. I tolerate their games and nonsense pretty well. I have never ever nipped at a child, or at my human parents or their friends. I am very well behaved!
I need a home without cats or small furry pets. They remind me of the squirrels and bunnies outside that I LOVE to chase! (Make sure you always put me on a leash or keep me in a fenced in yard)!
I do have a rehoming fee of $250 which includes a large chain link dog kennel (these retail for well over $300!) and many other miscellaneous doggie items I have – portable kennel, dishes, treats, toys, leash, collar, etc. which are all included.
Mostly, I want someone to love me and call me their own and have a big space to run where I can call home and play. We can cuddle, walk and run together, or just let me watch whatever you’re doing. My people will be pretty picky about who they let me go home with. You won’t regret bringing me into your life! I am very sweet!
