You will no doubt be asked why a business needs a website and you should reply, "Are you kidding?".

I am not sure how any business today can ignore the Internet and a direct line to their customers. People expect a business to be online to show more about themselves, their products, sales and specials.

People do not use phone books or newspapers as much as they use the Internet. When someone needs a plumber they look online! When someone needs a car repaired, the look online.

Before people head out to the local grocery store, they look online for what is on sale and what bargains they can get. In many cases people will do their grocery shopping at the store with the better deals that week.

Even large retailers like bestbuy and walmart have to do price matching to get sales because people come into the stores with printed pages from their competitors websites with better pricing.

Todays consumer is better prepared and better armed with knowledge they gather online.

People feel naked if they use a service that they don't know anything about. So any business that sells a service is handicapping themselves by not having a web presence.

Not to mention the loss in potential business from the severe lack of advertising. How can anyone ignore how powerful the web is in todays economy. It todays market having a website is as primary as having a phone.

Some propel will tell you they are "Old School" and don't understand websites. You can ask them if they have a cell phone, if they have a VCR or a Microwave oven. All of these are revolutions and required the same learning curve, but people can't live without them.

Tell the "Old Schoolers" that maybe they are behind the times, but their customers are not. Their customers are embracing the web in a big way and moving their business to companies and services that cater to their whims. Not having an informative website is like ignoring what your customers are asking you for.

Another amazing fact is the number of companies and retailers that purchase and do research online to buy their products. But they do not have a website to sell their products.

You won't be able to convince every person that they need a website. If a company thinks they can function without a website you wont change their mind.

You can explain how inexpensive and easy it actually is but if they don't bite don't push them. Sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks but how many old dogs do you see in business?

If a business can't swing $100 or so a year for a website and a few hours a month to manage it they clearly don't take their business seriously.
