When you can hear the baby's heartbeat
Hearing the baby's heartbeat is definitely music to mom-to-be's ears. Even if you have already seen your baby's heartbeat on an ultrasound, there's nothing like the feeling of when you can't hear the baby's heartbeat.
Even though a heartbeat can be heard as early as the 10th week with a Doppler, not all expectant moms get to hear the baby's heartbeat that early. The baby's position may be the cause of not being able to hear the heartbeat, or maybe the location of the placenta or extra fat around the belly area. A miscalculated due date may be the reason why you are not hearing the baby's heartbeat. By the 14th week, the sound of your baby's heartbeat is certain to be available for your listening pleasure. if it isn't, your doctor will most likely perform an ultrasound, which will see a heartbeat that was difficult to hear with the Doppler.
The baby's heartbeat should usually be under 100 beats per minute, but your baby's heartbeat will be around 110 to 160 beats per minute by midpregnancy. Don't compare fetal heartbeats with your pregnant friends.
