I was given this Chameleon as a newborn and since then, spoiled her rotten. I've cared for many different Reptiles, Bearded Dragons, Crested Geckos, Leopard Geckos but raising this girl was my favorite, hands down.
I'd like to go over the care I put into her for a moment;
Handling -- Since birth, I gave her as much handling as you can give a Chameleon. During the day I would pet her in her cage, let her use my fingers to climb obstacles but you should really not handle them much during the day. At night is a different story; she has a bedtime around 8:00 p.m. like clockwork. During this time, every night I would hold her for up to several hours even. She would turn the brightest of greens and adore the heat from my hands, she's very much a cuddler, it's ridiculously cute. You'll never see a lizard display as much affection as this one. I raised her in a clean environment, radios were not allowed near her or the room she is in, no knocking, yelling, loud TV, no smoking, no airborne chemicals including windex, hair spray, perfume, cologne, febreeze or even inscents!
Cage -- She's never lived with another Chameleon which does wonders on their health. Since birth she's had a spacious Reptibreeze 18x18x36 screen cage. NEVER GLASS! Her lighting is superb and everything listed below was replaced as of June 14th!
-Exo Terra Solar-Glo High Intensity Self-Ballasted Uv/Heat Mercury Vapor Lamp, 125-Watt
( simulates sunlight, best for Chameleons, good for digestion, pigment color and shedding)
-Fluker's Sun Dome Reptile Lamp, 10 inch Deep Dome Fixture
-Exo Terra Heat-Glo Infrared Spot Lamp 125 Watt
-Zoo Med Deluxe Porcelain Clamp Lamp with 8.5-Inch Dome
All light fixtures were made sure to convert the correct wattage and amble room for big bulbs. no overheating!
Also on that day I purchased a new 35" branch which provides a perfect climb from top to bottom and a great perch on the top for basking. Also purchased a new 9 liter bag of pre-ground Eco Earth Coconut Fiber extract soil, digestion friendly! Also bought Flukers 10ft vine with large leafs (ideal for drinking ponds, climbing and hiding) Wrapped it around the branch, she adores it! I went on a shopping spree for her that day, I also bought her a brand new Repti-fogger machine to provide extra humidity in the tank as well as 2 gallons of Distilled water (about a month's supply, must use Distilled only!)
Diet -- I've always focused on providing her a great diet, she's a very big eater! It's important to mix up a Chameleon's diet as I've done her whole life. She has moved on from fruit flies and eats a hearty diet composed mostly of Super Worms, Wax Worms, Phoenix Worms and Crickets. Every insect I've ever given her was fed Potatoes, Carrots and Cucumbers to provide the most nutrition. I also put a heavy coat of Repashy Superfood Calcium Plus, Vitamin and Calcium supplement on each incest. She's absolutely beautiful because of the diet she's always had.
I love this Chameleon, I've put a lot of time into raising her but unfortunately, I got a job many miles from home that calls for over-time every week and I wont be home to care for her. I really want her to go to a good home of people who can provide great care for her. She's about 5 months old and everything I listed goes with her, down to a full bottle of Repashy, distilled water, phoenix worms, everything you need to get her home and happy, absolutely nothing else required. The cage was intentionally purchased so that she could live through it all the way to adulthood, lights are brand new, everything is, you don't even need to buy food!
