I have had him his whole life, and we started out as just the two of us. Then I got married, then we had children, then we got a dog, etc...
Oliver would prefer it just be the two of us. He was also happy as a clam with just my husband and I. I would like to find someone sedentary or senior for him to be a companion to. More than one owner is okay as long as everyone is pretty calm and not too young (under 5?).
He hides from young children. He hides from dogs. He can tolerate other cats, but has never been around another male cat except perhaps when I've boarded him. He certainly prefers to be your only pet. He is very loving on his own terms and will come to you when you are still or sitting. He just hides/sleeps when there is a lot of movement/commotion in the house. He also leaves "presents" (poop) on the floor of our children's room regularly to let us know he's not very happy here. Our home is very busy, and he's a little miffed about it.
The turning point that is causing me to seek a home for him is that we just found that cats are the source of my children's allergies. For years, they have had severe upper-respiratory attacks, and no allergy or asthma meds are working for them. After ruling out food allergies (which it seemed to be), we found out it was cats.
So, we will be happier now also without a cat in the house, and Oliver will be much happier in a quiet home.
He is very healthy and I have had him professionally groomed with a "lion cut" this week (to get rid of some of his hair since summer is coming on). His hair grows out to full persian fluff after about 6-8 months.
