I am the assistant leader of a 4-H horse club. Ours is an unusual club as we do not require a child to have their own horse. The club leader owns a USDA certified, non-profit Petting farm. She is allowing the children to use her horses to learn to ride & care for a horse. They also use them in 4-H competitions. This allows any child, with an interest in horses, to participate, regardless of where they live or their families financial situation.
She has room on her farm for a few more horses & needs them to allow more children to participate. We would prefer older horses that are gentle & ride well for beginers. She recently had to retire her best horse because, due to old age, his eyesite is rapidly failing & he is having difficulty adjusting. Quarter Horses or Rocky Mountain Horses are usually the best for this but we will accept any horse that meets the criteria.
If you have a gentle older horse that you no longer need & would like to know it will live out it's days in a warm loving enviorment please contact us. We are located in Eastern Central MS.
We would prefer that someone donate their horse to the farm but could raise some money. A doner would receive a generous receipt, for tax purposes. Remember, If you put a kid on a horse, you keep them out of jail.
