Madison's Wish (aka Maddie) is a very feminine, gorgeous bay Thoroughbred mare who was born to be a Hunter! Selling because owner is going to college and has very limited time to spend riding. Maddie does wonderfully when ridden or worked with just 1-2 times per week.
Maddie was born on Valentine's Day of 2001 with a heart-shaped star and snip on her face. She is by Eltish out of Valid Gem, and won just under $80,000 during her time on the racetrack. I bought her when she was 7 years old as my first project, and has proven to be a dream horse to own and a very fast learner!
Maddie is certainly a 10+ mover, with long, low, ground-sweeping strides and a natural Hunter frame. She has the smoothest trot you'll ever ride, and ears always forward and attentive! She is 15.3hh, but comes closer to 16hh with shoes (she does very well with just front shoes). She is very healthy and sound, we have never had a lameness issue with her. Maddie is far from your typical mare, never mare-ish and doesn't flick an ear in another horse's direction if they ride too close. She never offers to bite or kick, and is very quiet and friendly.
Maddie is also far from most Thoroughbred stereotypes, as she is entirely bombproof – guns have been shot close enough to spook me, but she doesn't flinch! She has had riders stand on her back, slide off her hindquarters, and even do backflips as a dismount; nothing phases her.
She is very easy to catch, stands like a rock for farrier and clipping, bathes wonderfully and picks up feet easily for anyone, and loads without hesitation with a ramp. She has had some show experience and was very well behaved, and was a 4H horse this past summer, even qualifying for regional competition. She earned a 5th place ribbon in her first ever showmanship class after only a few lessons, and earned her first blue ribbon this summer.
Maddie goes walk/trot very solidly and has been ridden by beginner children at this level, although she needs a slightly more confident (intermediate+) rider for cantering or jumping, as she can sometimes be a little fast. She has jumped over 2' 2” with awesome form and loves to do it! She would be a great project and very easy to finish off for most anyone. She has gone English, Western, and is great bareback too.
We are asking $1,500 negotiable for her, and are also offering in-barn half lease or full lease for her as she just needs to be ridden more. Lease to own also available. Synthetic Wintec all-around saddle with adjustable gullets is included.
