15.1HH - Registered Quarter Horse - Sorrel
This horse is an incredible mount for an avid moderate beginner rider. He trails fearlessly and is an awesome cross-country horse, able to jump logs and climb banks without a problem. He is a little power house, and will not ignore the rider's cues like many bombproof horses and ponies are wont to do. He will walk, jog, trot, lope, and canter beautifully and has smooth yet and flowing movement in the ring.
He is responsive in the ring and on the trail, and has been jumped up to 2.5 feet. He has never refused a jump. He is fine with other horses in the arena, and fine for being washed and excellent at loading into the trailer. He won't fuss in the trailer or at shows when tied, and stands for the farrier.
He is wonderful for kids and beginners, yet has the capability to compete in hunters or pleasure with the intermediate rider. He can have very big movement under a good hand and has a strong, flexible neck, which makes him also a possible Dressage prospect for an adult rider.
Zip is an amazing horse for anyone. Come lease him for less than a gym membership at the Redstone Arsenal Equestrian Center! Military families living on post can access the center in less than 15 minutes, and it is walking distance from any of the housing areas. We allow varying degrees of trail riding and showing based on the rider's ability.
Even if you are not planning on showing or trail-riding, Zip is an excellent confidence builder who will work patiently with you in the ring and teach you everything he knows. We allow (and encourage!) the leaser to take regular lessons. Leasing is a great opportunity to get a taste of owning a horse, with half the expense. 4 days per week can be negotiated.
