In fact one simple task that will take you about 15 minutes to complete, I have seen marketing agency's charge $400+ for. And you can easily do it yourself for FREE... so SAVE your money!

If you can give your business just 1 hour a day for 7 days I can show you exactly how to get more business, and more money in you pocket!

I know what more customers to our home business meant for me and my family:

  • To pay our Bills again! (on time ;)
  • To open a savings account
  • To quit my second job
  • To let our kids play sports year round

Step 1.) - Day 1 - Getting On-line

You MUST have a website!

The truth is if you don't have a website you are missing out on TONS of opportunities for more customers!

If you already have a Website GREAT! - Move on to Step 2 - I have a Website!

If you Don't have a website DON'T WORRY! - You can have one by the end of the day for little or no cost at all!

Having a website will:

  • Make you appear more professional = More business
  • Allow you to get free on-line customers = More business
  • Give you an edge over your competition = More business

So let's get you a Website! Remember... get excited, not scared!

In creating a website for your small business you basically have three options:

Option 1 - Pay Someone to build a website for you. ($300-$3,000+ cost +$15 a month)

This can cost between $300-$3000+ depending on who you hire and what you want. And although I don't recommend this option for the standard small business trying to grow, if you have the cash and are ready to take this step here is a great website I recommend for finding the right person or business to build your website. Option 2 - Make your website yourself using a EASY website Builder ($3.75 a month)

My Personal recommendation for everyone! YES, even the "non-techie" this is sooo much easier than you might think and will save you a TON of cash!

For about $3.75 a month you can get a top rate web host with 24 hour support, a free domain name like ( www. your business name .com) and access to a free website builder.

If you find the right web host (web host="the" company that will be hosting or keeping your website on-line for you) that has great service and free website builder you can have a website up in about an hour!

A good website builder is basically a program that makes your website for you. All you have to do is answer a few questions, make a few color choices and your website is live! And if you want to change the text, color etc.. it is very simple to make changes later as well.

I have used a lot of different web hosts and website builders and the best option I have found for just about everyone is JustHost.com they have the best combination of good price, good service and is very simple to use. You can sign up for JustHost.com HERE. Or feel free to find your own web host just keep in mind that even though you might find many much cheaper options out there they may not have the top rate support and website builder that you might need to make things easier.

My recomendation: JustHost.com - $3.75 a month including free domain

After you have chosen a web host you will need to pick a website domain. There will be a search tool to find available domain names (website address) build right in to the webhosting sign up process. Many times your actual business name may be available, If it is... use it! If not try abbreviating or adding hyphens like bobs-plumbing-service .com .

Once you have choosen your domain name simply follow the step by step sign up process through the web host to get your website set up.

If you are a complete beginner don't be overwhelmed! remember you can make your website a very simple 1-3 pages. homepage, with general info about your business. contact info page with your phone number address and hours.. and maybe a page of pictures of your work.. etc. Or you can combine all of those things to just one page if you like. Do what you think will work best for your business.

Adding a picture or logo is as simple as adding a photo to facebook.. and will really make your website your own.

Option 3 - Use a Free web host (free)

Not my first choice. But if you really don't have a budget to pay for a web host have a free website is definitely better than not having one at all.. and you can always switch to a paid version later!

There are quite a few "free" web hosts out there. Many will contain advertising on the site, that you have no control over. Other sites offering

"free websites" are very commonly blags, Blogs are great and actually pretty easy to set up. You just have to be careful as I have heard of many

free blogs being suddenly taken down for all sorts of reasons, like content, advertising etc. Then your site is down.. And you have to start all

over. If you want to check out all your free website options, simply do a google search for "free web hosts" to get a list of all the options out

there..

Again, I recommend to pay the $3.75 a month if you can afford it for JustHost.com.. But if you can't...Sign up for free web hosting to get your business going on-line. A free website is definitely better than not having one at all.

The best "free" web host I have found is Jumpline.com. They offer free web hosting with zero ads, and you own and have complete control over the website. The catch is... it is only free for 1 year, then you will have to pay the monthly fee to keep the site up. You can get set up at Jumpline completely free if you already own your own domain name. If you don't you can purchase a domain name through their site for $9.95 during the registration and you will pay nothing else for the remainder of the first 12 month you have your website up. Now that your website is complete you can move on to step #2!

Step #2 - Day 2 I have a Website!

Day 2

Now that you have a website, it's time to let everyone know about it!

The first thing you will do is tell Google you exist! Then...they can start sending you customers through the web and mobile devices.

sounds exspensive...??? NOPE it's completely FREE!

That's right Google will send you free business. Let's Get started!

We are going to tell Google/Google places all about your business.

That way when someone searches for the service you provide in your area, your business listing will come up with a link to your new website.

Go to http://www.google.com/local/add/business Center

If you already have a Google or Gmail account simply sign in. Even if you do you may want to consider creating a new Gmail account that is just

for business. Not only does it look much more professional when you email prospective clients, but it will also help you keep a separation from

home and work emails. ex( denverplubming@gmail.com or mike.denverplumbing@gmail.com.

Once you have either logged into your existing google account or created a new one, you can now list your business.

Simply follow all of the instructions and complete as much info as possible on your business. The more information you enter the more business

google will send your way, so try to complete this by 100%.

VERY IMPORTANT!!MUST READ!!! After you complete your listing google will send you a small letter in the mail. They are mailing this to confirm

you in fact are who you say you are and your home or business address is in fact the address you provided on your listing. When you receive this

letter in the mail you must login to your google account and complete the code providedf in the letter before your listing will become live on

Google.

Your Done for Day 2! Now just Watch for the letter in the mail to activate your listing.

The more the better!

Step #3.) Day 3 - Get testimonials!!

Just think for a moment if you have ever used testimonials?

Have you ever been to YELP to check out a restaurant before you go there?
Do you ever read product reviews on a product you bought on-line? like a TV or a set of sheets?
Have you ever asked a friend if they know someone they would recommend for a service?
Chances are you have done one of the above at least one time..? But WHY?

Because when we don't have a personal experience with a service or product. The closest thing to what we think is what do others think...

And that is the HUGE power of testimonials for your business. So USE IT!

This is probably the number one way you can both bring in new business and multiply all of your existing business coming in.

If you have been in business for any amount of time surely you have 1 or 2 customers/clients that would be willing to write out a good, simple

review for you? Use family for this if needed or if you are just starting out but remember these very important rules when it comes to

testimonials:

They must always be true, and written by the actual person listed in the testimonial.
If you type up the testimonial yourself, on your website for example. Make sure to always keep the original hand written testimonial filled in a

safe place.

Boost yourself to the top of the list!

Once you have a few current or former customers that are willing to create a review for you you can:
ask them to simply send it to you so you can add it to your website
give them a link to your new google places page and ask them to post a review there.
ask them to go on to one of the major on-line review sites like yelp.com and make a review for your business.

By gettinf these reviews online.. it will help to move your business listing to the top of the list.
Google takes many things into account when deciding who to list first.. but having a completed listing and good reviews is the quickest way to

get your business to the top of the list. Being on the top of the list can mean the difference between hundreds of people viewing your webs page

everyday.. to just a few. So make sure to take the short amount of time to get reviews about your business online..

Keep the reviews coming!

What i like to do is create a small postcard looking card ( made myself on my home computer). Just a simple card I hand out to customers after a

job is completed. Believe it or not most people don't mind doing a review for you! Especially if you give them a great service or product!
