Raleigh Team USA 1985 model 12-speed with Sport Touring Geometry.
Raleigh 555SL Double-Butted All CroMo 5 lb. frame (stripped weight). Serial# 5BN0500.
Forged dropouts. Rear axle adjustment screws.
Raleigh tange headset (obviously by Seike-Levin but not attributed).
Unique 'Quickstand' feature clips to front tire, holds bars straight while on kickstand.
Fierra-Red paint main tubes, white star accents on Flag-Blue fork and stays, all original in very nice condition with a few normal paint nicks. Minor cosmetic ding on one side of center seat tube does not affect the frame's integrity.
Total bike weight = 25 lbs.Standover height 37". Top tube 22.5" c-c. Center tube 27" c-c (68.6cm).
Will fit leg length to 43" with post fully extended.
Handlebars: RALEIGH by Nitto, 420mm wide, new black custom black cork tape. 5" stem.
Derailleurs: Shimano Z206 front. Shimano L532 Light Action Series SIS rear. Stem mounted top-pull levers.
Brakeset: New CANNONDALE quick-release swivel side-pull calipers. Dual-pull DiaCompe levers.

The Team USA road bike was made by Raleigh to celebrate the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics road cycling event when Alexi Grewal became the first American man to win the gold.His winning bicycle is at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History.(Team bikes were Murray made by Serotta, Raleigh was a supplier.)Search 1984 Olympics or U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame for a description of Grewal's famous Los Angeles gold medal ride. It was one of the most emotional victories of the modern Olympic Games.
