Golf Information

These golf tips will make you a better golfer

Are you a total golf rookie? If you are having trouble figuring out where to begin grasping the knowledge necessary to learn the basics of golf and how to swing a club, then do not worry because you are not the only one. Many people feel as if they know nothing when first learning about golf. Read this article and you will get a better idea of how to improve your game.

Be able to differentiate between golf clubs if you want to become a successful golfer. You can send the ball where you need to if you know when you need woods, wedges, irons or putters. Using a wrong club for a wrong situation can be very bad.

Keep focused on the next shot, forget those before it. Whether you have been hitting well or poorly so far doesn't matter - you're only as good as your next shot. Dwelling on past mistakes will only beget more of them, so let them go and move on.

The face of your golf club should be square on the ball when you hit it. Doing so will allow the ball to travel along a straighter path. Unless the club is aligned with the ball, it is unlikely that your shot will be as controlled as you would like it to be. Experiment with how you hold the club until you have mastered hitting the ball at a 90 degree angle.

Before starting your swing, always check to ensure that you have the proper grip. Put your hands palm-down around the club handle. Your thumbs should point towards the ground. Your hands should be touching each other. You can choke up on your club if you want to hit further.

You may be a professional, but chances are your ball will land in bunkers or even sand traps. Sand often times gets spread around carelessly trying to free the ball from a trap. When you leave the bunker, follow correct etiquette - rake the bunker until the sand is neat again. By leaving the trap raked cleanly, you allow players behind you the chance to play their shot without the frustration of dealing with an unfair lie.

Having your arms limber and in shape is vital to having a good swing. When you are preparing for a golf game, try working out, stretching, and getting a nice massage. Massage loosens joints and muscles, enabling good swing movements. Yoga can be beneficial as well, as it limbers the arms and torso for a smooth swing.

The best way to improve your overall golf game is to improve your stance. Your position can influence how far the ball goes. The ball will not go very far if you are not slouching the right amount.

Golf is not as complicated as it is made out to be. Golf is as competitive or as relaxing as you want it to be. You should now know the basics of playing golf. Go play your first game and see how much you love it.
