Note: I recently got a new (cost $30 on E-Bay) "adjustable" alloy stem and pulled the Fuji out of the rack to see if it would fit. It did. The stem itself rises 5" above the insert and it measures 5" front to back. It should be a nice 'plus' for any tall rider. I'll post some new photos shortly. I also measured the distrance from the top of the seat to the pedals with the current post fully raised. It was 43 inches.

ABOUT VALITE: No brand of steel is stiffer than another. All steel alloys (Columbus, Reynolds, Tange) are virtually equal in weight and stiffness. The only way to alter stiffness is change tube dimensions. Valite, a vanadium alloy, is stronger than hi-tensile steel but not as strong as CroMo. The better Fuji's often have Valite forks and/or stays. These tubesets appear to have been made for Fuji by Ishiwata, well-known high-quality bike frame mfr.
