Last Rebellion puts players in control of two protagonists as they head into the Manichaean world of Junovald in an attempt to avenge their father's death. Meiktilia, the god of death and destruction, gives special abilities to Blades, who can destroy physical structures, and Sealers, who can destroy spiritual structures. Meanwhile, Formival, the god of birth and creation, can restore life to those killed by Blades and Sealers, but the soulless beings that arise are more like monsters than humans. Gamers can switch freely between the roles of Nine Asfel, a Blade with renowned combat skills, and Aisha Romandine, a Sealer burdened by her own power to cast spells, as the duo engage in turn-based battles around landscapes designed to resemble watercolor paintings.
Each turn involves attacks by both characters, but players must strategically choose whether Nine or Aisha will attack first. Gamers can elect to attack specific body parts on demonic enemies, and as the characters grow stronger they can eventually summon Meiktilia to deal massive damage to foes. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
