Lincoln Center has long been the top performing arts center in the United States and visitors to the center can enjoy the Lincoln Center Tour. The tour offers visitors a look into the workings of the most well known opera and ballet companies as well as the variety of musicians, theater and film entertainment that has been on the center's stage. The guided tours take visitors to the Avery Fisher Hall, the New York State Theater, the Vivian Beaumont Theater and the Metropolitan Opera House. The tour guides are engaging as they tell the stories of these great attractions to you and if you are lucky you may be able to catch a rehearsal of the center's next show.
The tour is currently suspended and is due to reopen November 12, 2009. The center is undergoing renovations and constructions at many of the venues associated with it. The opening of the new visitor and ticketing center, the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center will coincide with the resumption of the tour. The new center is located on Broadway in between 62nd and 63rd streets.
